Commission on Human Rights and Public Administration (CHRPA)

Aug 01, 2025

Dear Members, Partners, and Esteemed Colleagues,

It is with deep gratitude and humility that I accept the honour of serving as Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Public Administration (CHRPA). I extend my sincere appreciation to His Majesty King Mswati III for entrusting me with this important responsibility. I am fully aware of the task that lies ahead and the expectations that come with this position.

The CHRPA, established under Section 163 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Eswatini, is a hybrid institution with a critical role to play in our country. As a National Human Rights Institution, a Public Administration (Ombudsman), and an Integrity Commission, our mandate is to protect rights, promote transparency, and hold public institutions accountable, ensuring good governance and service to the people.

This year, we also mark the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Eswatini. Over the past two decades, we have made significant progress in advancing human rights in key sectors including health, education, public service delivery, and gender equality. While there is more to be done, we must acknowledge how far we have come and use this moment to recommit ourselves to deeper impact.

As we look ahead, our focus will be on building momentum through targeted steps such as strengthening institutional capacity, expanding outreach efforts, deepening stakeholder engagement, and reinforcing our integrity drive. We will continue to uphold the values of justice, dignity, and equality for all.

In this issue of our newsletter, you will find highlights of the recent appointment of commissioners, updates on the national integrity drive, outreach activities in communities, stakeholder engagement efforts, and success stories that demonstrate the growing impact of the Commission’s work.

Let this platform remind us of the power of collaboration and the difference we can make when we work together with purpose and resolve.
